New York Pizza in La-La Land

After doing some research I've found that there are definitely not a lot of choices for the New York Pizza lover in Los Angeles.  Albano's seems to garner the most passion from ex-New Yorkers, and Lamonica's has somewhat mixed reviews.  My wife and I have fond memories of a place along the boardwarl at Venice Beach that was quite good.  We arrived in L.A.

Testing Technorati Tags for New York Style Pizza

I can't figure out why Technorati doesn't notice this blog.  I believe Wordpress submits all posts to Ping-o-matic, but that doesn't seem to get Technorati's attention.  So for this post, I'm including some links that are recommended by Technorati.

Map Added to Pizza Locator

Okay, so I'm not an artist, but I thought we needed an easy way to see what areas are represented by the New York Pizza Finder, both the one on this blog site and the more detailed site.    Okay, so I'm not an artist...

New York Pizza in Atlanta

The mention on Slice was based on a conversation with a New Yorker who found himself in Atlanta and couldn't find a good slice of pie.  I can definitely relate to this situation.  However, I've gotten pretty good at seeking out and finding a good slice if it exists in a particular city.

I can't give good advice on Atlanta because honestly, I lived there for three years, and was just happy to have a Domino's nearby.  Nuff said about that.  Anyway, If you're looking

New York Pizza Blog gets a link from SLICE

Adam Kuban of Slice (www.sliceny.com) added a link on his site today, pointing "New York expats" to this site in order to help them find good New York Style pizza in far-away places. Check out the post!

A Slice of Pizza in Savannah

I was driving home from Florida and thought I might stop in Savannah for a Slice.  I connected to the Web via my Pocket PC Phone and asked Google to help me out.  The predominant response was a pointer to Vinnie’s Van Go-Go’s
I called the number on the site and got

NYPD Pizza – Missing In Action?

One of goals for my trip to Orlando was to get a taste of NYPD Pizza.  I blogged about it  once before after reading that they were trying to get good New York Pizza to the masses.  They’re based in Orlando so I thought I’d get the chance to try it out.
While out near Kissimmee, I saw a sign that said NYPD Pizza.  After making a few U-Turns and working my way to the strip ma

Another Day in Pizza Heaven

We are 4 for 4 here in Orlando.  Today I tried out New York Pizza out on Hwy 192, just south of Disney World.  The pizza was delicious and had all the makings of an excellent New York Pizza place.  For some reason, however, they don't sell pizza by the slice, and they cut their X-Large pizzas (18") into 12 slices!  Why?  Why?  Why?

A big old slice is a key component of the true New York Pizza experience, right?  Anyway, the pie was delicious and I recommend it to anyone going to Disney World or anywhere close.  I'm giving 4.5 stars on the Yummy Factor, and it comes out as an 80 on the Sliker

More New York Pizza in Orlando - Gourmeto's

I took a chance on this "hole in the wall" because it had a big sign that just said "Pizzeria" and was close to the hotel, and when I walked inside it smelled good and there was a guy that sounded like a New Yorker talking on the phone.  The pizza comes in four sizes-- medium, large, x-large, and xx-large (18").  And they're open and deliver until 2 am.  And they have canolis for dessert.  I knew it would be my kind of place.

So we got a to-go menu and called around 10:30, ordering a x-large and an xx-large to feed 6 of us.  It was excellent New York Style Pizza.  Gourmeto's is located at Exi

Flipper's Pizza in Orlando / Kissimmee

It was the big sign that said "Pizzeria" that caught my attention.  I had been traveling around Orlando trying to find the place called "Real New York Pizza" and finally had concluded it was far away, and I was too hungry to wait.  I was heading to Kissimmee to ride some go-carts and to find a place called "New York Pizza".   I went into Flipper's and was disappointed to find that I couldn't buy a slice.  Strike One.

I left because I saw a sign across the street that said "NYPD Pizza"-- Yippee, I was hoping to try some NYPD Pizza while in Orlando.  NYPD was no where to be found-- closed down

Pizza in Charleston, WV -- Is it lacking???

I'm still trying to figure out how  Technorati works, so I'm spending a good bit of time after I post doing queries on Technorati and waiting for my post to show up.  For a while there unless I manually ping the site.  The other problem is that I don't get credit for all the links to my blog.   Technorati shows four sites with links to my site, but then it still describes my site as 0 links from 0 sites.  So what I do is use

New York Style Pizza on Wikipedia

I realized last night that Wikipedia is a little weak in the area of New York Style Pizza.  I haven't had the desire before to update Wikipedia, but I really thought this topic needed some work.  So now, I'm trying to figure out how big to make it.  Should we add some links to New York Style Pizza blogs?  Web sites?  Should I point folks to the New York Pizza Finder?

Found! New York Pizza in Orlando

It didn't take long to find some New York Style Pizza in Orlando.  Our first stop, before even checking into the hotel, was to visit Anthony's Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant, located in the Thornton Park area of downtown Orlando.  Anthony's ghas a long line of "Orlando's Best Pizza" awards to its credit.  It's a nice restaurant with a traditional menue for a Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant.  It scored a perfect 100 on the Sliker Rating System.

Locate New York Pizza Podcasts with PodZinger

Maybe everybody else already heard of this, but I just learned today about PodZinger, which is a search engine that will search podcasts for content.  This product was developed by BBN, the company that developed the Internet.  The guy in the interview I heard refers to the guy he works with as "the guy who invented the @ sign."  They've been working for years on spy technology that scans recordings and recognizes key words.  They've now channe

Best Pizza in Texas

I had a 4 day visit to Dallas, and lo and behold, found the best New York Style Pizza in the state!   Giovanni's is located in the Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth, and is just a stone's throw from Billy Bob's Texas, the world's largest Honky Tonk.  It is the real deal, owned by Jerry Giovanni, and scores a 100 on the Sliker Scale, as follows:
